A young girl, Emili, is killed by a stranger in elementary school. Although her four friends saw the suspect, they say they don't remember it. 15 years have passed and the incident is still unsolved. EmiliΓÇÖs mother Asako (Koizumi Kyoko, also in the directorΓÇÖs masterful ΓÇ£Tokyo SonataΓÇ¥) tells them that she will never forget or forgive their transgression until either they have tracked down the murderer or paid a penance that she approves. The series focuses on the psychological repercussions on each of the four girls.

Won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2013 Fribourg International Film Festival

I've never seen this on torrent before and I don't believe there's ever been a DVD release - this was sent to me by a friend in Japan who encoded it as mp4 so I could easily pop it onto my Apple TV. Quality is admittedly not amazeballs, but certainly decent and watchable. Supposedly the rights were bought by an American company that's going to edit it down into a two-hour feature film, so here's what might be the only chance for those outside Japan to see Kiyoshi Kurosawa's full unedited mini-series.

First episode is 640x360, episodes 2-5 are 512x288.
